Description
hypoleuca (Murata 1962/AHS 1993)
From the Greek hypo=back and leucon=white.
A species from Japan known as the ‘White-backed Hosta’ because of the powdery white coating on the back of the leaves. In its natural habitat, it clings to rock cliffs in full sun, normally producing only one leaf per eye, but in cultivation it forms a more typical mound of large gray-green leaves with wavy edges.
